        录音原文

        (Text 1) 购物

W: How about this blouse? Do you think it’ll look good on me?

M: I don’t think so. The pattern is not right, and the color is not right.

W: OK, let’s keep looking. I’ll find one in the end.

        (Text 2) 日常生活

M: Did Ruth watch the football match last night?

W: No, she didn’t. She usually watches a little TV after supper. But last night she went straight to bed.

        (Text 3) 换工作的原因

W: Hi, Tim. I heard you changed your job. Why?

M: Well, I didn’t mind being a truck driver. But I hated the long trips away from home. The garage where I’m working now is just 5 minutes away.

        (Text 4) 下班时间

        M: Jane?

        W: Yes, Mr. Clark?

M: What time are you leaving work today?

W: About five. I’m meeting my husband for dinner at six.

        (Text 5) 买花

M: Tara, we need to get some flowers to take with to the hospital.

W: Oh, didn’t you buy any then? I thought you did during the lunch break.

        (Text 6) 寻求帮助

W: Mr Johnson, I’m afraid we have a problem with the Thursday meeting.  Harriet Ellis will arrive late.

M: I see, Dr Norwich. Isn’t she the first person to give a speech on Thursday morning?

W: That’s right. So, to help us avoid this gathering problem, would you please take Ms Ellis’ place and speak on Thursday morning?

        M: No problem at all.

        W: Thanks.

        (Text 7) 在餐厅谈论项目

M: I’m very glad we had this chance to talk, Ms Lynch. Thank you very much for taking time out from your busy schedule.

W: I’m glad we finally did it. I’d like to talk more about the project with you, Frank. But I’m going to Seattle tomorrow morning.

M: I hope you trip to Seattle goes well. I guess I will see you sometime next week in the company.

W: Right. I’ll call you when I come back. Then we can continue our discussion in my office. I’ll ask Mr Simpson from the sale department to join us.

M: Great! I look forward to. By the way, the food was delicious, you picked a good place. Thank you.

W: You’re welcome. Good night and drive carefully.

        (Text 8) 借帐篷

M: Hi, Sophie. This is David.

W: Oh hi, David. How are you?

M: I’m fine. I got a little favor to ask: Have you still got your tent by any chance?

        W: Yeah, I think so.

M: It’s just that my brother and his family are in town on a visit. I’m planning to go camping with kids this weekend. I was wondering if we could borrow you tent. I mean, the super large one you used to set up in your garden. All the neighbors were impressed.

W: Sure, no problem. Oh, hang on... I lent it to my sister last summer. Let me phone her and check if she’s still got it.

M: Thank you. If she had it, don’t ask her to bring it over. I’ll go and pick it up

        (Text 9) 访女拳击手Jane Couch

M: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Danny Show. I’m Danny. Let’s meet our first guest.

W: Hi, everyone. My name is Jane Couch. And I’m a professional boxer.

M: Tell us Jane, how did you take up boxing?

W: Um... Years ago, I saw a film about women boxing in America, and I thought “Wow, amazing! I’m going to have a go.” I didn’t ever think I’d be any good, but I’ll keep faith in that.

M: Were you always a sporty girl at school?

W: When I was younger, I was very unfit. I never used to do any sports.

M: What did your family and friends think of you as a woman boxer?

W: When I first told everyone I was going to do boxing, they just thought I was mad. They were like “you can’t do that, women don’t box.”

M: How do you prepare for a match?

W: What I do: I come to a training camp to prepare for a match. So, I come like eight-to-ten-week before each match. Just spend the first few weeks getting into shape, and then on six weeks out, we start going into full-time training twice a day, sometimes three times a day.

M: What’s the best thing about being a professional boxer?

W: Um... Certainly, the fitness is the best side of it. I mean, I’m fit and healthy and feel great in myself. And I got like a lot of confidence as well. And like I say, I met some great friends, too.
